KIDS Restaurant
(KIDS restaurant is temporaly closed, but we will open again Friday the 3rd of August 2012!!) We hope to see you!
The KIDS Restaurant is the only restaurant completely run by Kids (under supervision of course:-)! This project was developed by T.E.S.S. Unlimited in order to help 20 kids learn English, work and social skills and learn to work together as a team. We feel it is very important to get children involved in a project and help hold them accountable for their education! Every penny earned as profit goes go into each child’s personal ‘Piggy Bank’ used only for future studies. The kids involved are part of a special educational project. They take classes every week to improve their English. They also take a theory class which helps them to understand the process of working and running the restaurant.
Every Thursday the Kids go to the market to buy the
necessary food for the 3 course meal prepared and served on Friday. Five children cook and prepare the meal while 5 children serve the meal. Every 6 weeks the children will switch jobs so that they all get experience in each job! Another requirement for the children is that they must speak English in order to get as much practice as possible (When you dine in the KIDS Restaurant help them out if they need it)! We also change the menu every 2 weeks to a different country or place so the kids learn more about different foods and cultures! The profits from the KIDS Restaurant go directly back to the children, which we feel helps the children see that they are achieving a goal!
